Great Community Give 2024 Early Giving: April 3 – April 16

Harrisonburg, VA – While Great Community Give is not for another couple weeks on April 17, those anxious to kickstart the joy of local giving may do so as early as April 3. The ‘Early Giving’ phase of Great Community Give will take place from April 3 to April 16. Over 150 local nonprofit agencies are accepting $7 or more donations online at www.greatcommunitygive.org and cash and check gifts sent directly to their mailing addresses. Gifts made to listed organizations will count towards the overall fundraising totals during the 7^th annual Great Community Give, scheduled for the third Wednesday of April, April 17, 2024, 6:00am to 8:00pm.
 
Great Community Give is an initiative of The Community Foundation of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County (TCFHR). The sunrise to sunset, annual giving day event inspires our community to give back to causes that make a difference right here at home. Great Community Give celebrates the work of participating nonprofits by sharing their stories on how they address area needs. Since its 2018 inception, donors and sponsors have raised a total of $7.5 million for local nonprofits during Great Community Give.
 
The Early Giving phase is helpful for both nonprofits and donors. The GCG 2023 Early Giving phase reported over $200,000 support listed nonprofits. The event planning committee suggests donors giving cash and check gifts to send their $7 or more gifts directly to their chosen nonprofits either by mail or in person in advance of GCG’s official day on April 17. “The purpose of the two-week Early Giving phase between April 3 and April 16 is to provide grace time for donors who prefer to give by cash and check. We want to make sure those gifts count towards nonprofits’ totals and help their chances to win certain cash prizes. This Early Giving window gives everyone more time to send their donations before the event ends at 8:00pm on April 17.” – Amanda Bomfim, Director of Marketing and Initiatives, TCFHR.
