Classical Indian musician Ustad Shafaat Khan returns to Arts Council of the Valley’s Court Square Theater

HARRISONBURG, Va. (July 20, 2018) – International musician Ustad Shafaat Khan is slated to return to Arts Council of the Valley’s Court Square Theater on Monday, August 20th for an evening of excellent entertainment.
 
Classical Indian musician Ustad Shafaat Khan’s roots can be traced back to the 16th century to the court of the Mughal Emperor Arkbar. Mr. Khan is known for his excellence on three of India’s most prominent instruments: the sitar, surbahar, and tabla.
 
Mr. Khan debuted at age 11 in the King’s Lynn Festival, opened by the Queen Mother, and has since performed at concert halls, music festival, and universities spanning from China to France and everything in between. Stateside, Mr. Khan has performed alongside musical sensation Stevie Wonder at the Bonaroo Festival, as well as showcased his own composition “River of Strings” with a western symphony orchestra at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia.
 
Mr. Khan’s musical performances have aided various relief efforts, including flood and tsunami victims, handicapped children, and victims of domestic abuse.
 
Ustad Shafaat Khan will perform at Arts Council of the Valley’s Court Square Theater on Monday, August 20th. Doors open at 6:00 PM with the show beginning at 7:00 PM.
