Harrisonburg, Va. – The city of Harrisonburg will soon kick off its annual Citizen Academy.

Applications are now being accepted for the 2018 Citizen Academy, which will begin toward the end of August.

This is a 13-week program designed to give city residents an inside look at the daily operations of all aspects of their local government.

“Each department enjoys opening their doors to residents,” explains Mary-Hope Vass, public information officer. “This is an opportunity for us to educate our customers on how the services are delivered to them each and every day.”

Participants will visit each department, meet employees and learn about their responsibilities, and have the opportunity to ask questions.

Applications are available by visiting www.HarrisonburgVA.gov/citizen-academy and must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on August 1.

The City of Harrisonburg is centrally located in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. It is home to almost 55,000 people. More information about the City of Harrisonburg is online at www.HarrisonburgVA.gov.
