Choral Concert Set for Nov. 19 at Bridgewater College

BRIDGEWATER, Va. — Bridgewater College will present a choral concert on Sunday, Nov. 19, at 3 p.m., in the Carter Center for Worship and Music. It is free and open to the public.
 
The Concert Choir and Chorale will perform under the direction of Dr. John McCarty, assistant professor of music and director of choral music. Lacey Johnson, instructor of music at Bridgewater College, will accompany on piano.
 
The Concert Choir will perform “Travelin’ Thru” by Dolly Parton and arranged by Greg Gilpin.
 
The Chorale will perform “Eu vou, eu vou” from Suite Nordestina by Ronaldo Miranda, “Going Across the Mountain” by Ellen Gilson Voth, “Come, Shepherds, Sing with Me” by Thomas Tomkins and “Little David, Play on Your Harp” by Rollo Dilworth.
 
A special feature will be all of the ensembles joining together to perform “Gonna Get Over You” by Sam Farrar and Sara Bareilles and arranged by Bryan Sharpe.
 
A bluegrass ensemble will perform several pieces, including “Amazing Grace” arranged by Will Todd, “All at Once Well Met Fair Ladies” by Thomas Weelkes and “Shut De Do” by Randy Stonehill, arranged by Mark Hayes.
 
The program also includes the A Cappella Fellas, Chordially Yours and the Gospel Choir and Band.
 
Bridgewater College is a private, four-year liberal arts college located in the Central Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Founded in 1880, it was the state’s first private, coeducational college. Today, Bridgewater College is home to more than 1,900 undergraduate students.
