Bridgewater College Students to Present Recital on Nov. 26

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Daniel J. Patton and Alex Ward will present a junior percussion recital at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 26, in the Carter Center for Worship and Music at Bridgewater College.
 
For his recital, Patton will perform “Dance of Drums” by Gene Koshinski, “Caccia Caper” by Jared Spears, “The Solo Timpanist No. 4” by Vic Firth and “Portraits in Rhythm No. 1” by Anthony J. Cirone.
 
Patton, a music major, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Patton of Catlett, Va. Patton is a member of the Symphonic Band, the Jazz Ensemble and the Pep Band. He is a member of the drum line.
 
For his percussion recital, Ward will perform “Swerve” and “Dance of the Drums” by Gene Koshinski and “Celtic Rondo” by Alicia Gomez. He also will perform “Vic Firth Timani Solo I” by Carl Fisher and “Snare Study No. 13” by Anthony J. Cirone.
 
Ward, a music major, is from Staunton, Va. He is a member of the Symphonic Band, the Jazz Ensemble and the Pep Band. He is a member of Gospel Choir.
 
Patton and Ward study percussion under Marlon Foster, adjunct instructor of music.
 
The recital is free and open to the public.
 
Bridgewater College is a private, four-year liberal arts college located in the Central Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Founded in 1880, it was the state’s first private, coeducational college. Today, Bridgewater College is home to more than 1,900 undergraduate students.
