Position: Business Services & Human Resources Administrator

Position Description:
The Business Services & Human Resources Administrator oversees the management of the school's financial and human resources. This person provides business accounting services, supervision for the business office staff, and a connection point for outside contractors. This person advises the Strategic Leadership Team on financial priorities and matters.
Key Responsibilities:

Budget Development and Oversight
-
Prepares strategic financial plans and annual budgets, in partnership with the Head of School, business office staff, and other departments.

Maintains a system of cost control to foster efficiency consistent with high standards of education and the limitations of the budget.

Manages a cost-effective system of purchasing, billing, cash management, and insurance.

Creates long-range budget projections for operations and cash flow.

Ensures the maintenance of strategic financial data and reports to the Head of School and Finance Committee on a monthly basis.

Reviews the income and expense reports of the budget for accuracy, analysis and finding ways to improve the stewardship of the school’s resources.

Helps to maintain, with the Head and Business Staff, an appropriate scholarship and financial aid program as approved by the Board Finance Committee.

Bank Reconciliations & Cash Management - Responsibility

Investment Earnings and Allocations - Responsibility

Journal Entries and Accruals - Responsibility

Commercial Insurance Coverages - Responsibility

Works with the Business Office Manager in preparing reports for the Finance Committee.

Serves as primary signer for all AP & PR checks.

Supervises the audit process - Oversight

Ensures that investment activity is accomplished in a timely manner - Responsibility

Organizational Personnel Responsibilities
-
Prepares salary schedules, projected salary and fringe benefit costs, and other financially impacting schedules in partnership with the Head of School.

Establishes and follows effective record keeping systems for salaries and benefits.

Master-level user of BambooHR and the Human Resource support for hiring practices.
-
Works with SLT members in keeping job descriptions up to date.

Communicates salary and fringe benefit information to faculty and staff.

Supervises the payroll process.

Supervision of Facilities and Maintenance - HOS w/ Director & Principals (?)

Models the values of the School in interactions with students, families, staff, and the community.

Ensures that the organizational system with its clearly defined lines of authority and responsibility are consistently upheld throughout the department.

Works cooperatively with staff to develop, plan and offer resources for growth and improvement.
-
Works with the Head of School to identify and address personnel problems as soon as possible.

Supervises the operation, maintenance, and rentals of school facilities.

Approves expenditures for operation and maintenance within budgetary limits.

Recommends changes or additions necessary to implement student programs or to maintain desired standards of appearance, safety and adequacy.

Strives to create and maintain an aesthetically attractive environment that is compatible with the character of the institution.

Assists the maintenance staff in prioritizing and coordinating projects and repair demands around the school.

Oversees Outsourced Information Technology Administration - Trellis MSP
-
Consults with Trellis MSP and the school’s IT Coordinator to ensure the school’s technology plan and hardware meet educational and business needs.

Works with IT staff to keep track of IT hardware and software licenses for the school

Consults with Trellis MSP and the school’s IT Coordinator to ensure a current annual (short-term) and 3-year (long-term) IT plan.

Provides or coordinates teacher IT education as requested or suggested by the IT plan.

Requests Trellis MSP and/or the IT Coordinator to research and recommend technology solutions that increase efficiencies or effectiveness.

Qualifications:

Conviction about the importance of Christian education and wholehearted agreement with the mission and values of EMS.

Relationship builder with strong interpersonal skills, including verbal, written and listening skills.

Self-starter with excellent organization, supervisory, and management skills.

Bachelor’s Degree with business/accounting major
-
Demonstration of interest in continuing education.

High level of expertise with word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
