Event Description:

The success of every business or nonprofit depends on the collaboration and melding of ideas.

Integrity, competence, insight, dedication, and effectiveness are vital to the successful operation of the organization. While non-profits are required to have a board of directors, for-profit businesses are not. But even the smallest business, including (and maybe especially) one-person shops, can benefit from formal or informal boards to provide insight and new ideas. Join us and learn the science and art of effective boardmanship.

Presenter Barbara Roadcap is an Instructor with Ford-Byrd Consulting, LLC and has served on numerous boards including Second Home, the Shenandoah National Park Trust, and the Virginia Quilt Museum. She volunteered at the Quilt Museum as Volunteer/Membership director, provided tours and educational activities for children?s groups and was active with the outreach events of the museum. Barbara currently serves as an Adjunct Instructor for the Nonprofit Studies Minor in James Madison University?s Social Work Department.

Business Smarts Breakfast sessions are held on the 2nd Friday of every month with networking opportunities and guest presentations on a variety of topics.
