Event Description:

Speaking of Public Speaking

Public Speaking is a fear for many of us.

Indeed, nearly 10% of people in the US share this fear, and many more would prefer to stay out of the spotlight all together!

This session will help you think about who the “public” is for your business messages and help you gain strategies that shift the focus from you as a speaker to communicating meaning and intent to the audience for your desired impact.

You will also gain insight into how to adapt to a variety of speaking situations and how to manage co-presenting with others (which presents its own set of challenges).

Our presenter is Lori L. Britt,
PhD
, an associate professor of communication and director of the Institute for Constructive Advocacy and Dialogue at James Madison University. She regularly teaches public speaking and gives presentations in a variety of organizational contexts, including serving as the Faculty Commencement speaker.
