Featuring in the Main Floor Meeting Rooms:
1:30 PM – “Making Mini Comics” Workshop with Laura Lee Gulledge, a Charlottesville based author and illustrator of YA graphic novels “Will & Whit,” “Page by Paige,” and the new interactive book of Sketchbook Dares. (Abrams Books).
2:30 PM – “From Print to Paint: Transforming Novels into Graphic Novels,” a presentation by John K. Snyder, III, whose career spans three decades and includes work on projects for DC Comics’ “Suicide Squad,” as well as the graphic novel versions of
Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde and Joseph Conrad's
Secret Agent.
In the Second Floor Community Youth Center:
1:00 PM until – “Free Comic Book Day” – in partnership with The Secret Lair Comics on University Boulevard, will distribute free comic books for all ages while supplies last.
1:00-3:30 PM - activities for younger children, including Character Crafts, a Superhero Training Center, Photobooth and more.
During the afternoon, Chris Barcomb, author of the graphic novel series for kids “The Amazing Adventure of Superior Sam”, will be on hand to talk about his work with attendees.
All activities are free, family-friendly and open to the public.
Costumes encouraged.
